Early thoughts on Elevator Speech: Why Do You Want to Be a Teen Librarian?

Because public libraries are the great equalizer, and teens aren’t always treated equally there.
Because teens are “plugged in” to what’s next, and I’m always curious about that.

Because teens are the next adult library patrons.

Because teens used to be those cute child patrons.

Because I was a teen, and remember that it wasn’t always easy.

Because I was a teen, and remember how much I yearned to learn at that age.

Because they’re important and valued, and it’s important, valuable work.

Because teens are our future, and they need every chance, and all the help they can get.
